Where have I been............

I have not been keeping up with this blog like I know that I should. Actually its not that I now I should, it is that I want to keep up with it. I like the idea of praying for others, even if I am the only one doing it. There are so many people out there that I feel could use our prayers. I also want to look for ways to move it beyond prayers. I pray that my concern for others with materialize into helping others in a material or physical way. I am going to make an attempt to blog a prayer everyday or maybe every other day. Also, I am going to attempt to help others with more than just prayers. I ask all of the things in the name of Jesus Christ - Amen

Prayer for Japan......

The country of Japan has recently experienced what some specialist are calling "the most horrific tragedy since World War II." Residents were forced to stand by and watch as their lives were simply washed away. By far though the most devastating news, according to CNN.com, is that over 10,000 people are presumed dead, and we can expect that number to rise. Please join me in praying for these people and if you have the means, financially helping these people restore their lives. I cannot even begin to fathom the amount of time it is going to take the people of Japan to rebuild their lives and get back to normal. Pray that God with be with the people of Japan and use the opportunity to minister into the lives of the Japanese people. Also, pray that all Christians around the globe will use this opportunity to share the love and generosity of Jesus Christ. As always we pray these things in the name of Christ - Amen

Pray to God..........

Please take a few moments and read this over. Take the time to absorb every word and truly reflect on what it means to say this prayer. Let God work in your heart and in return cry out to Him in love and repentance.

Matthew 6:9-13 (NIV)

9 “This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

Prayer for the Weather.......

Here in the Midwest we are preparing to be hit with a brutal winter storm. The weather channel reported that over 100 million people are going to be affected by this storm. I want to prayer for people who are living alone, especially the elderly. If you know someone like this, prayer for them and take a few minutes to check in on them. A knock on the door or a simple phone is all it takes to make sure that they are ok. As always we pray in the name of Jesus Christ - Amen

Prayer for Addiction...........

Addiction is a strong word. It is a word that brings visions of back-alley dealing and a man shivering on the street corner. The truth is that addiction affects more people then we could ever imagine. According to the dictionary addiction is:

-the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.

There are so many people in this world who suffer addiction from caffeine to heroin. Take the time with me today to pray for these people and that they might be freed from their addiction. That they might come to freedom through faith in Jesus Christ and that He might free them from their bondage. Addiction does not discriminate and can affect every walk of life. It is in our schools, hospitals, military, churches, families, and everywhere in between. Lets lift our prayers to God and ask him to help all of us overcome the addictions in our lives that hinder a close relationship to Jesus Christ. As always we ask these things in the name of Christ Jesus - Amen

Prayer for the days following Christmas......

As of today Christmas has been over for one whole day. Is always amazes me that immediately after Christmas is over people begin to say things along the lines of "I am glad that its finally over", "another Christmas season finally over" and "well we survived another year". I am here to encourage people not to just "survive Christmas" but make it something that we strive to do all year long. Why should we only really care about people for a "season" of the year? Why not help our fellow man all year long. This is what Jesus would have wanted us to do. Take for example Matthew 22:34-40:

Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Imagine the outcome if we really did care about the welfare of others above the welfare of ourselves. Lets pray that God will start to move our hearts in that direction. That before we become overly concerned with our own welfare we consider those around us. Pray with me that we might see God working in the world. Lastly, pray that we will continue to spread the joy of Christmas for the entire year that stands before us. as always we offer our prayers in the name of Jesus Christ- Amen
